KBR President Arsen Kanokov Visits Kayseri

Kayseri, February 20 - The President of Kabardino-Balkaria Arsen Kanokov visited the city of Kayseri (Turkey) which was one of the major cities where the Circassians were settled after the great exile during Russian-Circassian War. He was very pleased with the attention that he got in Kayseri and the development of the city. The second day of his three days visit, Kanokov was invited to meet by the Mayor Mehmet Özhaseki. Kanakov and his team were amazed that the city of Kayseri is highly developed and were happy to see the warm welcome from the people. He mentioned also that their relationship will go even further with this official visit which started not long ago when the two cities Nalchik and Kayseri became sister city.

Haseki, pointed out that the city of Kayseri has a 6,000 year old history and how it became so popular with its industrial and trade developments over the years. He also mentioned about the large Caucasian population in town. The Mayor stated that the cultural relationship that they had will bloom with their industrial and trade relationship.

While Kanokov was acquainted with Kayseri’s economy, he also briefed the Mayor about the investment opportunities in Kabardino-Balkaria. He invited the businessmen from Kayseri to his country. Because of the disinformation, the investors are concerned and prejudicial about the region, but he insisted that the region is more peaceful than the rest of the Russia. Turkey was the only country which got into economic relationship with Caucasus post Soviet regime and that’s why they would like to benefit from experience that Turkey will offer them. According to the President of Kabardino-Balkaria, the economic tie will make them very happy and they see Turkey as a strategic partner. The rest of the meeting with the Mayor and the Governor were closed to the media.

Kanokov also officially opened the Nalçik (Nalchik) Boulevard. During his visit his itinerary also consisted of visiting the Kayseri Chambers of Industry and Commerce and attended a dinner at Hilton Hotel which is hold by the Caucasian Associations.
